Meet Oliver

I work with businesses to help them understand their impact and how to reduce it. For me, the most important thing is that my work is contributing to a measurable benefit for my customers and for the planet.

I love building relationships with people and that my work has a meaningful impact. I enjoy solving problems, which is particularly useful when working in sustainability! I also like to think in terms of systems and am good at understanding how different challenges/issues are connected – which is probably a product of my background in economics (which I studied at university, alongside politics and philosophy).

After graduating from university, I moved to Shanghai for a year and taught English, so I could see a different part of the world. Once I returned, I taught economics as a freelance tutor and also for an international school in France (remotely).

I was always deeply passionate about sustainability, and the flexibility of the tutoring allowed me to study for a post-graduate diploma in sustainability and behaviour change. It took a couple of years of balancing work and study, but it got me my first job in sustainability as a carbon consultant. A couple of years of carbon consulting then led me to TBL, where I’m hoping to continue helping businesses to reduce their impact.

When I’m not working, I paint still lifes in my shed and showcase them at semi-regular exhibitions. When I am by the sea and there are waves (the combination of which is rare), I love to surf.
