Driving sustainability and employee benefits forward: TBL launches electric car scheme

TBL’s Rachael Davies explains the thinking behind the launch of our EV salary sacrifice scheme and highlights that when it comes to the benefits, it “isn’t just about cars; it’s about our people”.

I’m really excited to share that we’ve officially launched an electric car scheme for our team at TBL! Partnering with The Electric Car Scheme, we’re giving our people the opportunity to lease electric vehicles (EVs) through a salary sacrifice scheme, making driving electric both affordable and sustainable.

This is more than just a great employee benefit. It’s a step that reflects who we are as a business: balancing environmental and social responsibility with financial wellbeing.

Why EV salary sacrifice is such a great benefit for our team

The scheme is designed to make EVs accessible and cost-effective:

Big tax and national insurance savings

Because the scheme uses salary sacrifice, our employees can save 30–60% on the cost of an EV, making electric driving much cheaper than buying or leasing privately.

All-inclusive peace of mind

The monthly cost covers MOT, servicing, and breakdown cover. No hidden costs or unexpected bills – just one simple payment.

Home charging savings

Team members can get a home charger through the scheme. One of our team members already using an EV shared that it costs them under £5 to fully charge at home for around 265 miles of range!

Salary sacrifice for public charging

Even the cost of public charging can be included, spreading the cost over our employee’s salaries and reducing the tax they pay.

Huge choice of vehicles

Whether our people want a brand-new car or a nearly-new option, there are lots of deals across a wide range of vehicles, so there’s something to suit everyone’s lifestyle and budget.

For our team, this is an opportunity to save money, enjoy a new or nearly new car at a much lower cost than they could find elsewhere, and make a real difference to their carbon footprint. For TBL, it’s a way to further strengthen our employee benefits package, improve wellbeing by removing some of the financial strain of motoring, and support greener transport choices.

How this supports our sustainability goals

We work every day to help businesses integrate sustainability into their operations, guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) best practices. It’s important to us that we live these values internally, too.

The electric car scheme directly supports:

  • SDG 13 Climate Action: encouraging EV use helps reduce emissions and contributes to the transition to low-carbon transport.
  • SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities: promoting cleaner vehicles improves air quality and supports greener communities.
  • Our B Corp certification: as a certified B Corp, we’re committed to balancing purpose and profit. Introducing initiatives like this strengthens our impact for both people and planet.

By offering a practical, cost-effective way for our team to switch to electric, we’re not just talking about sustainability, we’re living it.

Putting people first

This initiative isn’t just about cars; it’s about our people. We know the cost of living and commuting can weigh heavily, so providing a benefit that can save our people money, reduce stress, and give peace of mind is important to us. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to wellbeing and to creating a workplace where our people feel valued, supported, and proud of the work we do (both for customers and for the planet).

I’m really looking forward to seeing how many of the team take advantage of this new benefit. It’s a small but important way for us to show that at TBL, we care about our people, our communities, and our planet, and that we’re willing to put those values into action.
